Fairfield Arts Commission: Spotlight Series - Nicole Cantore Koester
Meet Nicole Cantore Koester, a local artisan specializing in mixed media!
Nicole has been an artist since childhood. She pursued a design degree at Syracuse University in computer design programs and worked in graphic design for years.
After she got married and had children, she received her certification to teach art through ARC (Alternate Route to Certification) from the State of Connecticut. She shared, “I needed to create and developed my love for repurposing found objects, nostalgia and re-purposing natural and collected items in my studio.”
Nicole also participated in the 2nd Annual Artistic Visions Challenge where she won in the Adult category for her piece titled “Eye of Providence". The piece, showcased U.S. currency from before 1776 up to Bitcoin. In addition to being a participant in this year’s challenge, Nicole has also mentored student participants. She stated, “I am so happy that we are starting to develop the art community and artist connections, here in my hometown of Fairfield that I love so much and where I raised my family.”
