May is National Bike Safety Month

This month, we celebrate National Bike Safety Month, which first began in 1956. There are many beautiful scenic roads and trails in our Town that cyclists of all ages can take advantage of this spring, and throughout the year. Experience Fairfield and check out the Five-Beach Bike Tour and the Southport Bike Tour on our site, along with maps and educational audio options during your bike tour! In addition, we have partnered with the Fairfield Bike and Pedestrian Committee to share some tips for safe bike riding. Check out the safety tips below and also visit their site for more in-town bike routes and information!

Bike Safety Tips

• Ride with the traffic flow

• Obey all traffic laws

• Ride single file if riding with others

• Yield to traffic when appropriate

• Don’t cover your ears so you can’t hear

• Be predictable

• Stay alert at all times

• Look before turning

• Watch for parked cars

• Wear a helmet

Additionally, this month, plan to participate in Bike to Work Week, which will take place May 16-22, and Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 20. Share your bike photos with us by tagging @ExperienceFairfield!
